Craig Thomas recommends you join him in the two new comedy workshops beginning Jan. 17 and 18:
Hi, fellow ORGANIZED COMEDY students,
Back in the late 1970’s, I took Jim Richardson’s SRJC acting class where we performed scenes from full-length plays. Then, I joined his touring REP Revue where we performed 65 two-hour shows throughout Northern California 1977-1978.
The cast created and Jim edited/directed our original monologues, skits and songs. We played high schools and the night club venues, including The Holy City Zoo when Robin Williams was just starting his career. We also did weekly for a month at both the Mill Valley Tavern and Mabuhay Gardens on Broadway Street in San Francisco. At the Mabuhay, famous promoter Dirk Dirksen booked us to open for punk bands. We were also the invited company to the East Bay Theatre Arts Festival.
These are several of many reasons why I am taking Jim’s Sketch Comedy
Jim again will train us in long-form improvisation,
then guide our results into solidly scripted sketches for our graduation performance.
In traditional acting terms, we will be working from the "inside out.”
Great prep in auditioning for movies:
I will also be taking Jim’s Film & TV Acting Workshop
were we will actually make short films as we learn how to work from the "outside in:"
If you have any questions about these new offerings,
you can talk to me in person at our Wed., Jan. 11, 8 pm Comedy Marathon Contest
where I will MC the show,
then do a guest 20-30 minute set while the scorekeeper tallies up the judge’s score sheets.
Tickets are only $10 and can be ordered online
where you can also find details on the contest history, etc.:
